Quote stillinthepast="stillinthepast"A couple of months ago in Liverpool airport on my way to the Cats match I was told by a well informed Wigan supporter that Maguire's names had been mentioned as in the frame to come back next season, I also remember it being mentioned a couple of times a couple of weeks later on this forum before it died a death.
This afternoon I was talking to an old friend who can give me a few years, I think he told me that he watched his first match in the late 1940s, and he is still a Wigan season ticket holder (he was even at the match on Thursday).
I told him what I had been told about Maguire, what he said then surprised me. He said that Maguire still owned an house in Wigan and he went on to say that he was in Wigan app 6 weeks ago.
I don't know if that can be believed due to his commitments to South's unless it was on one of those free weekends that NRL clubs get from time to time during the season. It is a rumours and signings thread though.'"
I know Maguire lived not far from myself while he was here, in an estate in Standish. I think he sold that house when he left, obviously i could be wrong though. Anyway, i can't see Souths getting rid of him to be honest, i know they've had a poor season but i still don't see him leaving. Even if he does, i still don't think him coming back is for the best despite the success he had here.
I think we need a fresh new look. Lets be honest, Wane hasn't exactly developed or changed the way we play since Maguire left. When 'the move' worked, it was good and it was suited to Tomkins pre-NRL but now for other teams its just become very predictable and easy to defend. If Maguire came back do you think he would drastically change the way we play? Personally, I would like Wigan to have more of an offload game and i don't think Maguire likes to his teams to play that way. As much as i love Maguire for transforming our club, i don't think it would be for the best if Wane was to leave.
