Don't think we had ones planned for 2010 and 2012 if we had lost. Plus if we had won it was going to be at the stadium (with only 8,000 allowed inside) rather than the Town Hall.

How ridiculous. Surely the pleasure getting to watch your team walk out at Wembley Stadium, something which very few sport fans get to do, is thanks enough?

We played in Stalybridge, Warrington and Leigh to reach the final, those of us who attended all those games hardly followed a GB Lions tour. It only takes the 19 bus to get to the LSV, not HMS Indomitable!

That is true & i was also talking in general terms of teams that have lost finals.

The whole idea smacks to me of when in my daughters primary school running race all the kids got a "Winner" medal. Homecomings are for winners, not losers.

If I was a player I'd find it quite condescending to be cheered and celebrated after loosing in a final. That's the one thing we need to learn from the Aussies. ruthlessness when it comes to sport. Not good enough? Go home. If you lose a final you're a loser, not a runner up.
